Sticks made from softwood are lighter coloured than the darker hardwood, and they tend to "break-in" easier.
Hardwood sticks are a little heavier, and have a more solid 'feel' when playing your bowl.
Wood sticks are ideal for playing smaller bowls, particularly the brass or bronze bowls that are cast in a mold and machined.
Larger bowls, and most contemporary or old master bowls tend to play better with a wood/leather stick.
The small playing stick is approximately 25 mm diameter by 13 cm long.
