Singing bowls affect you on all levels. On the physical level they relax the body. They can also be used on or around the body to loosen up tight muscles or energetic blocks.
The vibrations of some bowls can create a change in brainwave state resulting in an altered state of consciousness. This can be light or even deep meditative state. Because the sound is so absorbing it can create focus and concentration by quieting the chattering mind
Tuning forks have a variety of uses and benefits. See Sharon’s article on Tuning Forks
Tuning forks vary considerably in their accuracy. We have some forks that we purchased from India that are accurate to 0.5% (we won’t sell them because they don't meet our standards). And we have seen many forks in stores that are only accurate to 1% or worse. Of course, you won't see that on the package. When listening to these forks, your ear hears this inaccuracy as a “beating†which is annoying at best, and defeating of the reason that you are listening to the forks.
Our forks are accurate to 0.25% (they are good enough for medical use, and in fact are manufactured by a medical instrument manufacturer). These forks are very well made, and are finished beautifully. They come in a nice velvet pouch to protect them when you are not using them.
The Bell and Dorje (or Vajra) are usually made from bronze, sometimes with silver added. They are ritual instruments used in Buddhist religious ceremony.
The Dorje, sometimes called the ‘thunderbolt’ or ‘diamond sceptre’ represents the male principle. In ceremony, it is usually held in the right hand.
The Bell represents the female principle, and is usually held in the left hand. The bell can be rung, tapped with a playing stick, or played similar to a bowl by rubbing a playing stick around the rim to make a singing sound.
Used together, they are believed to lead to enlightenment. Their shape and construction are steeped in Buddhist symbolism.
Tinshas are tools that can assist your meditations. Made from the same materials as the Tibetan singing bowls, they are two small discs that tuned to two slightly diffeent frequencies.
When tapped together, there is a wavering in the sound which can stimulate a change in your brainwave state. Because of this, they were used in temples to help maintain a meditation, or to signal the end of a meditation.
In Feng Shui, they are played at the four corners of a room to purify the energy in that room.
An Organza Fabric bag is included with each set.
